Lack of updates
Apologies for the lack of updates i've been very busy.

Belt Promotion in Traditional Jiu Jitsu
So, as well as doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I also train in traditional Jiu Jitsu, as our BJJ Purple belt is my black belt instructor. I find the stand up in this really helps my standup game in BJJ as most BJJ white belts don't have a stand up game apart from a half-assed attempt to jump guard.
Anyway, This week I got my first coloured belt in Jiu Jitsu, grading was probably one of the most physically demanding things I've done in a long time, probably as hard as the first time I rolled in BJJ, there was a lot of drilling and a lot of throwing and being thrown. Anyway, it's a long way away from black but I'm heading in the right direction!

Underground Gripfighting
Gripfighting... Probably one of the least looked over part of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, no matter how fancy your technique is, if you can't break your opponents grip of your sleeve and lapel, sadly you're technique becomes pretty ineffective.
In this insrtructional video we look at mainly Judo based lessons but the lessons in the these instructional translate to any stand-up on BJJ and MMA. These videos give you a complete insight to gripping sequences and gripping tactics, what to do to prevent being thrown, how to beat physically strong opponents, amongts other things.
My favourite module in this actually in Module 1. The turtle is a widely used defence in Judo and also BJJ and MMA. These instructionals show you how to completely nulify the turtle and allow you to gain the upperhand.

Beginner MMA Training Instructional
In this review I will be looking at the Top Beginner MMA Training Program.
As the title says this is a tailor made program for people who wish to begin studying Mixed Martial Arts, perhaps to compliment their BJJ or for people who are just beginning.
These MMA instructionals are created and produced by top UFC fighter Jeff Joslin who has retired from professional MMA and now coaches fighters who fight in the UFC.

So I've recently come across the BJJ manifesto online. Like many other Online Instructionals it provides you a deep insight into the BJJ game.
However after reading this book and studying just a few simple position specific tactics, Istarted to cause cause blue – and even new purple – belts to make seemingly minor slip ups.
Do these slip-ups really matter? Well, let me ask you a few questions...
Could you finish a rear naked choke faster if your opponent mistakenly let you get your arm under his chin...instead of blocking you by grabbing your wrist?
Would tapping a Brock Lesnar sized muscle-head with an arm bar be easier if he didn't have time to curl his arm to defend?
Do you think if your opponents made twice as many mistakes every time you roll, it just may help you hit more submissions?
